Black & Green is a modern neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Barnt Green, Worcestershire. The food and drink are led by award-winning chef Andrew Sheridan, who grew to prominence after competing on Great British Menu in 2018 and 2019. There’s meaning behind the name, too. ‘Black’ is symbolic of being classical, while ‘green’ represents sustainability, together reflecting the team's mission to serve classic dishes cooked with humble, local ingredients.
Black & Green aims to combine the relaxed feel of a neighbourhood restaurant with the finesse of modern fine dining. It’s an intimate affair, with space for up to 18 diners seated on tall black stools throughout the black and green dining room. Guests are then served each course by a passionate and knowledgeable team, with emphasis on creating a fun and dynamic experience for all.
There is only one tasting menu available which rotates regularly with the seasons. Although the restaurant cannot cater for vegetarian, vegan, fish or dairy-free diets, it is able to accommodate gluten, seafood, shellfish and nut allergies. Examples of dishes you can expect to try include bread with cultured butter, beef and smoked caviar, Orkney scallop with horseradish and red cabbage, duck with carrot and Hen of the Woods, and Douglas fir potato with yoghurt and ricotta. While to finish, the team have been known to serve an exciting twist on carrot cake. Do note that there is a dedicated drinks pairing available for those who want to experience the full offering.
Black & Green is suitable for single diners, couples and small groups who are looking to enjoy a gastronomic experience. All guests dine together around a single table, encouraging a communal and convivial dining experience.
