A no-frills mix of craft beer and pizza is just about all you get at this stylish drinking den on St Michaels Hill. Courtesy of local brewers Bath Ales, this place delivers by sticking to the
basics and doing them well. A rolling selection of Bath brews nestles among UK and global beers – so make the most of the kookily named selections by ordering special tasting measures (one-third or
two-thirds of a pint). To eat, hand-crafted Neapolitan pizzas are the mainstays, although you can also sample salads and nibbles such as baked dough with garlic butter or bangers with mustard. The
bar’s design is spot-on too – part of the main wall looks like a massive barrel dotted with beer taps, while the rest is an artful mixture of mismatched plastic chairs, exposed brickwork and retro
beer-mat wallpaper.
