Babul’s has been named as the Bangladesh Caterers Association’s Best Restaurant in the North East for 2021. Previously known as Spice Island in Barnard Castle and since 1995 our mission has been to revolutionise and innovate Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, using recipes and techniques that were brought straight from our home. This mission still runs within our blood today, one bite at a time.
The menu has been created by International Chef of the Year 2017, Head Chef Milon Miah and award-winning chef, author, and food consultant Nitisha Patel, it takes you on a journey through our founder’s culinary history.
Milon and Nitisha worked with Babul to capture his recipes he created throughout his life. Inspired by his experience and stories along with the many regional variations of Indian cooking, each dish has been matched with a style to bring distinct flavours and fragrances to each dish to tantalise the senses.
