Arlingtons is a cafe, bar and restaurant in central Ipswich. It’s housed in a several hundred years old building that speaks to the town’s maritime history. Palm Court, the former ballroom, is available for private hire, seating 80 guests for a sit-down meal or 150 for an evening party.
Food is served from brunch through to dinner. Brunch dishes include everything from a full English to a beef burger to pancakes with Nutella. The same room where brunch is served also plays host to afternoon tea. This is available Tuesday to Sunday 12-3pm and £24 per person.
The evening menu is served in the main restaurant, a long wooden floor-boarded room surrounded by a mezzanine balcony on all sides and pierced by a central skylight. Starters include tempura cauliflower, lamb kofte and wild mushroom arancini.
For mains, you can choose from the likes of oven baked chicken with dauphinoise potatoes, salmon with apricot salsa and slow braised beef short rib. The vegetarian options are either a mac and cheese made with Suffolk Gold or a sweet potato and spinach coconut curry. Desserts round out the evening menu. As well as sweet dishes like cheese, sticky toffee pudding and winter berry crumble, there’s a cheese board with biscuits.
The Arlington also serves a pre-theatre menu for those visiting the nearby New Wolsey Theatre. This is available from Tuesday to Friday at 5-6pm. Two courses are £16 and three are £21.
