In the words of A A Gill ‘breakfast is everything’, and it’s become the motto for Alde Cafe. The team here takes the first meal of the day very seriously, focusing on high quality produce to create a first class café experience. Inside is a contemporary space with pastel green leather seating and artwork dotted across the walls, but with some bright green gingham tablecloths adding a touch of retro to the overall aesthetic.
On the menu, you’ll find a limited selection of breakfast plates, but the focus here is on quality rather than quantity, paying homage to greasy spoons across the country whilst still keeping it extraordinary. You can expect to find options such as bubble and squeak with sausage, bacon, eggs and beans, as well as smoked haddock with scrambled egg or ham and egg with potatoes.
You’ll also find plenty of favourites including bacon butties, ham and cheese toasties, and beans on toast. For those who like to start their day on a sweet note, or even opt for a two course breakfast (and we commend anyone who does), you can tuck in to eggy bread with bacon and maple syrup.
The team at Alde Cafe pride themselves in cooking with local, first class produce, from working with a bakery that makes bread a short walk down the road, to sourcing the bacon and sausage from a local butcher. Whilst local is key, it is never favoured to the detriment of quality, and only the best in the area has been selected to earn a place on the menu.
Luckily for us, breakfast is available well into the afternoon, meaning you don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to land yourself a table here. So whether you’re after a laissez-faire start to the weekend, or popping in for a pre-work bite, head to Alde Cafe to learn why it’s gained a name as one of the best breakfast spots in Suffolk.
