Pitched right by the old Coronet cinema, this lovely, warm, family-run taverna has seen a few famous patrons in its time – PM David Cameron & his wife have been known to pop in (presumably before he got busy dealing with the deficit). The kitchen sticks to the basics, with a few unusual delicacies such as saganaki (fried Greek cheese) added to the mix. Kick off with a big spread of mezze – dolmades, taramasalata, gigantes beans – before tackling the charcoal-grilled kebabs with a hearty Greek salad & breads. Best of all, there’s an airy terrace out back, where you can dream of sunscreen & ouzo while wolfing down calamari, kleftiko & suchlike. Homemade karidopita (walnut cake) is a sweet-toothed way to finish.
