Chelsea fans will know that ’55 was the year in which their team won its first league title, & this restaurant within the Millennium Copthorne Hotel picks up some of the footie overspill from Stamford Bridge – as well as feeding residents during the week. Its bright, corporate-style surrounds fit well with a short menu that offers mainstream ‘dinner party’ food for the assembled company – think tomato & basil soup followed by grilled fillet of salmon with asparagus & broccoli, with tropical fruit salad to finish. Prices are fair (£22.50 for three courses) & the wine list includes some surprisingly well thought-out, mid-price selections. Be warned: if there’s no Premiership action at Stamford Bridge, the dining room can be a pretty thinly populated space. Noteworthy for breakfast.
