Russian cuisine often gets overlooked, but Zima is here to sing its praises via a menu of traditional dishes with a modern twist. Zima is a stylish Russian Restaurant tucked inside an avant-garde townhouse on Frith Street in Soho. Split across three floors, it boasts multiple private spaces for an exclusive dining event, including a subterranean karaoke bar!
For more formal private seated events, both the ground floor and first floor dining rooms can be booked separately. The ground floor restaurant features black and white checkerboard flooring, eclectic artworks on the walls, and a glamorous bar, with space for up to 35 seated guests. While the first floor dining room can cater for up to 36 guests for dinner, and offers a slightly more exclusive setting for special events, with white tablecloths, leather chairs and beautiful hanging light fixtures.
The Laika Shisha Lounge is suited to relaxed, intimate parties, with space for up to 16 people. Do note that the shisha lounge is located outside on the terrace, and although it is covered, you might want to bring a few layers for the evening!
Finally, you can hire Zima’s underground karaoke bar, a fun, atmospheric space with its own separate entrance, for up to 35 people. This space is only available to hire on Fridays and Saturdays in the evening.
Award-winning executive chef Alexei Zimin draws on his Russian heritage and classical French training (he trained at Cordon Bleu) to create innovative, unique dishes that are impossible to pin under one type of cuisine. Examples of dishes include herring with grated egg yolk and rye bread, Russian salad with chicken and salmon roe, crispy potato rösti with mushroom sauce and truffle oil, and a selection of signature dumplings, from ‘Lamb Pelmeni’ to salmon and cod.
It also makes its own vodka infusions (Nastoyka) with flavours such as sea buckthorn and cranberry, and horseradish, garlic and plum.
