Putting on a private dining event in Manchester, but fancy doing something a little different? You need to check out Tender Cow at Mackie Mayor. Mackie Mayor is the now refurbished and redesigned food hall in Manchester's creative Northern Quarter, which was once the city's meat market. This impressive building has triple height ceilings and plenty of period features, and is now a thriving hub for dining and drinking.
Here, you'll find Tender Cow, a seasonal steak eatery with a difference. The team at Tender Cow are passionate about providing customers with alternative cuts of meat which not only diversifies their menu, but keeps prices down, too. You won't find the likes of sirloin or fillet here, instead the team work with local farmers on seasonal produce, uplifting lesser used cuts like sirloin pave, spider steak, hanger steak and Jacobs steak.
This space would be perfect for a corporate function or big birthday party, and Mackie Mayor is now also taking bookings for weddings. As for the food, Tender Cow shares its menu online so you can take a gander at the types of dishes to expect. While the normal menu spans breakfast, brunch and dinner, the team have created a sample menu for events, too.
You can choose between two or three courses, with starters such as hanger steak with café de paris butter, portobello mushrooms with white beans and chilli sauce, as well as smoked ox cheek with sourdough and pickled chilli. For mains, we like the sound of the whole crispy pork belly with smoked apple ketchup, as well as the whole baked sides of salmon with lemon aioli for those who prefer a pescatarain base.
When it comes to sides, there's tons to choose from, including triple cooked chips, dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal greens, finished with desserts like sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream and hazelnuts.
