Rail House Cafe is an excellent location for private dining in Victoria. A mere stone’s throw from the station, the restaurant is easily accessible from anywhere in London and further afield. The space itself is welcoming, almost reminiscent of an Alpine lodge, with macrame light fittings, plush seating and plenty of distressed wood furnishings. Of the four dining spaces, The Cabin is the most intimate. Able to host up to 16 guests, the room is tucked away behind a curtain and bathed in natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The other three spaces are semi-private, with The Snug being next up in size after The Cabin. This corner has space for up to 20 and plenty of character. Larger groups can hire The Mezzanine, which looks across the restaurant, has its own team of staff and can host up to 36 seated guests. Finally, groups can hire the entire upstairs bar, allowing for up to 80 standing guests, well-suited to drinks receptions.
For an intimate three-course meal, there is a group set menu with plenty of options for each course. If you choose this option, you might start with grilled sourdough and an artichoke dip, salt cod fritters with citrus mayo or grilled flatbread with braised beef shin, sour cream and green chilli. When it comes to the main course, choose between miso grilled seabass with nuoc cham, Heron's farm chicken with arracacha puree or chana dal with courgette and aubergine pickle. Finally, you and your guests can finish the meal with hot brioche doughnuts and milk jam or dulce de leche banana cheesecake.
For a more casual dinner, there is also a feast menu designed for sharing, featuring the likes of tuna tartare tempura broccoli skewers, braised lentils, pea fritters, grilled sweet potato with horseradish cream and crispy okra with a yuzu ponzu dip.
