Located on the doorstep of Buckingham Palace, The Rubens at the Palace is a luxury hotel from the Red Carnation Hotel Collection. Dating back to the 18th century, this historic site offers a wealth of restaurants and bars that boast the best of British cuisine and hospitality. All its spaces are available for private dining, if you’re celebrating a special occasion with friends or colleagues. Able to host both intimate and large-scale affairs, a dedicated team will ensure that your private dinner is truly exceptional, while set and bespoke packages cater for all dining requirements.
There are three main dining rooms available at the hotel: The English Grill, The Curry Room and the Palace Lounge. The former is an opulent British restaurant, where classic dishes and meat cooked over a josper grill are the order of the day. In the Curry Room, guests are able to indulge in an Indian restaurant experience with rich red interiors and authentic flavours. Finally, the Palace Lounge is a bright open space with panoramic views of The Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace, the perfect location for a smart drink's reception.
While bespoke menu options are available if you have something specific in mind, guests can select their choices from a set three-course menu designed by executive chef Ben Kelliher. Offering British food with a memorable twist, examples of dishes you might try include smoked chicken and foie gras terrine with apple chutney and toasted brioche, herb crusted loin of Welsh lamb with confit potato, shallot puree and rosemary sauce, and seabass with sweet potato fondant, Asian greens and chilli jam. While desserts keep things classic with sticky toffee pudding or a chocolate crème brulee.
One the drinks front, a well-stocked wine list includes a number of bottles from the hotel’s vineyard in South Africa, Bouchard Finlayson.
