A chic bar-restaurant, found in a tiny, quiet corner of Mayfair and inspired by the Riviera? Sounds like heaven, doesn't it. So, if you're looking for somewhere special to host a lovely dinner with friends, family or colleagues in West London, check out LPM Restaurant & Bar, short for La Petite Maison.
Found in a quirky, triangle-shaped dining room, just a stone's throw from Claridge's, LPM showcases a stylish colour palette of light tones, complemented by marble touches, white chin and navy booth seating, against soaring ceilings and large windows, and a fantastic selection of artworks sourced from 20th-century painters from the South of France.
The whole place is inspired by the La Belle Époque period and its effect on the Mediterranean, with a playful attitude, plenty of flair and a menu of fresh, French Riviera-inspired cuisine, as well as an intimate seafood/cocktail bar.
The menu is taken from the Côte d'Azur and the Ligurian coastline with dishes served as soon as they are ready, for as fresh a taste as possible and a breezy feel. Start with smaller plates such as king crab and tomato tart, alongside scallops carpaccio with almonds and golden raisins, and asparagus with confit shallots and goats cheese dressing. Most will enjoy the medium plates, which include the likes of linguini pasta with clams and prawns, as well as marinated lamb cutlets with aubergine caviar and pine nuts, or whole sea bream baked with provençal herbs and lemon, with sides like french fries with garlic and rosemary. Or, if you're super hungry or sharing, the larger plates are great for the middle of the table, such as the whole roast black leg chicken.
