Lainston House is a stunning brick-fronted manor set in the countryside just outside Winchester. With sweeping grounds and carefully restored interiors, it creates the perfect backdrop for all manner of events – from wedding receptions through to business meetings. One of our favourite things about this country pile, however, is its broad spectrum of private dining spaces. With six different meeting rooms – which guests can hire - through to two restaurants, a terrace, drawing room and chef’s table experience, the options feel truly endless.
The latter is potentially the most special experience, offering up enough room for around six guests to enjoy a truly memorable evening. Here you’ll be treated to a surprise tasting menu that has been created using some of the best seasonal and local produce available, including ingredients picked from the estate’s very own kitchen garden. During your meal the chef will personally delivery dishes to your table, explaining each course in detail. At the end of the evening you’ll be able to tour the kitchens, to get a peek behind thte scenes. This costs £130 per person, and you can add a drinks pairing at an additional cost too, if you’d like. It’s the ideal special birthday treat or a super way to impress colleagues or clients.
Elsewhere you’ll find The Avenue – a fine dining style restaurant – as well as The Wellhouse which deals in woodfired dishes. At both of these you’ll find the teams happy to discuss private and group dining options.
If you’re looking to arrange an away day or a client meet, the varied private rooms dotted throughout the house can make for the ideal base to both work and play from. They come with high-end AV equipment – for instance – but can also become a space for you to wine and dine from. The in-house team are happy to help with all enquiries, and will be on hand to guide you during your planning process.
