Kahani is a fine-dining Indian restaurant found in the heart of Chelsea, which sits opposite the historic Cadogan Hall. The restaurant also offers private dining opportunities, including a dedicated private dining room which is able to accommodate all manner of personal and corporate celebrations, ranging from business lunches to birthday dinners.
Kahani’s private dining space is known as The Peacock Room and is found on a mezzanine level which overlooks the ground floor of the restaurant. This means that you can still enjoy the buzz of the main dining room while sitting down to your exclusive dinner, although if it is total privacy that you are after, there is always the option to have the room curtained off.
As its name suggests, The Peacock Room is decked out in an opulent shade of royal blue velvet, with guests sat around one rectangular table and able to settle in to snug velvet tub chairs. The space can welcome up to 10 guests at one time for a sit-down meal, whether it be a business lunch or a private dinner party.
Guests can choose between dining from either a six-course tasting menu or a four-course Dawat menu (the latter is only available at specific times). Dishes you can expect to find on the menu include smoked Malabar prawns marinated with fresh turmeric, coconut and curry leaves or guinea fowl tikka with Chettinad spices, smoked tomato sauce and ajwain roti. To finish up, you can tuck into a kulfi platter (a traditional Indian ice cream).
Indian food naturally lends itself to vegetarian dining and this is evidenced at Kahani, where an exclusively vegetarian version of the tasting menu is available. Diners avoiding meat can tuck into the likes of spiced chickpeas with sweetened yoghurt, mint and tamarind chutney, as well as enjoying optional wine pairings.
