Holland & Holland is a historic shooting ground on the outskirts of London, nestled within 60 acres of countryside. Since 1939, this institution of bespoke gunmaking has been providing world-class shooting tuition on its idyllic site.
While enthusiasts of the sport will no doubt be keen to book into the shooting grounds, the facilities at the Lodge also span a cosy lounge, a conservatory bar which looks out over the surrounding greenery, an outdoor terrace with plenty of al fresco seating and signature restaurant by Joshua Hunter which focuses on seasonal, British produce.
All offer an atmospheric backdrop for a special meal out, but if you're looking for something a little more exclusive, try Holland and Holland's private dining room. The Wine Room is an authentic yet stylishly modern space adjacent to the main restaurant. An impressive wine wall features over a thousand bottles of fine wine, many of which can be purchasd and taken home. The room is able to host up to 16 of your nearest and dearest, with a central wooden table perfect for intimate suppers.
The menu at Holland & Holland is created by chef Joshua Hunter and his team, with dishes such as crispy soft boiled egg with smoked parsnip veloute and chive oil to start, fillet of Cornish cod with ndjua butter, cockles, variegated kale, confit shallots and root vegetables for main, and caramelised custard tart with blood orange and creme fraiche for dessert.
The dishes are largely inspired by British classics, albeit with a modern twist, and honour the fare of our humble island with venison sourced from Berkshire, day boat fish from Cornwall, middle white pork from the Wye Valley and Heirloom tomatoes from the Isle of Wight.
There's also an impressive selection of rare and premium drinks, including wines, spirits, Dalmore whiskies and cocktails.
