Situated in a 15th century coaching inn, Crazy Bear is a five star hotel and venue boasting two restaurants specialising in British and Thai cuisine, as well as a variety of spaces for a private dining occasion. Each room is distinctly decorated and boasts varying capacities, making Crazy Bear a truly unique destination that's sure to impress your guests.
There are plenty of rooms for hire that would be suited to a private dinner, whether you’re marking a milestone birthday with family and friends or celebrating with colleagues. The Library can accommodate up to 32 guests and features a long table, classical decor, and two large skylights offering abundant natural light. Slightly smaller groups of up to 22 might be interested in the Hunting Lodge, which boasts unique wooden interiors and with antler chandeliers as a nod to the local game hunting industry.
If you’re organising a lavish and glamorous affair, opt for the Crystal Room. This glitzy space boasts mirrored walls, eclectic lighting and pink banquette seating, culminating in an art deco-esque ambience perfect for a memorable dinner of up to 40 guests. Larger parties are right at home in the Moroccan Lounge which features low cushioned seating, a draped fabric ceiling and views over the hotel pool area. This can host an impressive 90 guests.
For the meal itself, you can choose from a three or five-course contemporary British menu which changes seasonally. Starters include delights like baby gem shellfish sliders packed with crab, prawns, crayfish and a paprika Marie rose, and vegetarian options like burrata with scorched radicchio, blood oranges, rocket and sumac dressing. Mains are kept hearty like old spot pork belly from the Crazy Bear’s own farm, served with chorizo roasted tomato cassoulet, while lighter dishes like teriyaki salmon and panko crusted cod cheek with wakame and sesame salad are also on offer.
To accompany your meal, there is a stellar wine list with affordable bottles and revered labels, as well as vintage Champagnes, perfect if you’re celebrating a special occasion.
