As if the glamorous central London restaurant, The Delaunay, didn't offer escapism enough, visiting its in-house The Counter is like taking a mini holiday. Located adjacent to the main restaurant, The Delaunay Counter Café and Bar offers a more casual and slightly playful dining option, with Alpine-inspired dishes and drinks. If you have a special event coming up and you're looking for a glamorous venue with a causal, social feel, The Counter is perfect. With a capacity of 70 people standing, it's a gorgeous place to enjoy chatting with cocktails and canapes, or plan a three-course seated meal for 30 people.
Here you can enjoy all-day dining and drinking, as The Counter is open Monday to Friday, from 8am until 9pm, and from 9am on Saturdays. The food is themed around Austrian specialities, such as signature Viennese hot dogs, served with melted onion on a brioche bun, accompanied by either a pint or stein of Stiegl beer. There's also the likes of käsekrainer pork and cheese sausage or Frankfurter smoked beef sausage. For those with a sweet tooth, the classic afternoon tea is delicious, served with strawberry jam and clotted cream.
All events bookings include an events co-ordinator who will walk you through the selection of private dining menus. For example, if planning a standing soiree, canapes such as oak smoked salmon with horseradish, as well as wild mushroom arancini served with aioli, and tempura tiger prawns. While, bowl food options include chicken salad, as well as superfood salad and mushroom stroganoff with spätzle.
One of the set menus starts with watercress velouté with horseradish cream, followed by seared mackerel with beetroot remoulade, finished with apple strudel with whipped cream, as well as coffee, tea and petit fours. But, if this doesn't take your fancy, there's plenty more where that came from.
