If you're planning a special occasion, be it a birthday, wedding reception or important client meeting, and want an intimate venue with a focus on fantastic food, take a look at Pravaas. This boutique restaurant in South Kensington comes from Chef Patron Shilpa Dandekar and describes itself as a culinary adventure that's committed to nurturing the traditions of Indian cuisine, for an authentic dining experience.
You and your guests can expect to enjoy a story told through flavours, of the many ingredients and cooking techniques found across India's regions and throughout its history. Choose to either peruse the a la carte menu yourself or enjoy an extensive tasting menu, which in total boasts up to 12 courses. For a special occasion, a tasting menu is always a wonderful option, and in this case a wine pairing is available, too.
While the menus change with the seasons, for an idea of what to expect, you can see a sample version online. For example, the tasting menu starts with seared scallops served with roasted peppers, walnut, pomegranate chutney and jerusalem artichoke puree, followed by wasabi chicken tikka with chicken thigh marinated in fresh wasabi, cheese, cream, fenugreek leaves and cardamom. For dessert, the shahi tukra
comes with crispy brioche bread, reduced saffron milk, stewed apple and rose and pistachio whipped cream, ended by teas, coffees and petit fours.
On the a la carte menu you can also try dishes from the clay oven, offering guests a chance to try a traditional cooking technique. Here, dishes such as Tandoori stone bass and seekh kebab with fine minced lamb, aromatic spices and finely chopped onion sound delicious.
As for the space, Pravaas is a small restaurant with an up-market feel, decorated in a contemporary colour palette of silvery blues and turquoises, ideal for a celebration or important event.
