Located in South Kensington, Pravaas comes from Chef Patron Shilpa Dandekar and offers diners a unique experience of Indian cuisine. The team describe their dishes as a form of story telling, on a mission to share the authentic traditions of Indian cooking and culture with guests, who they ask to come with them on a voyage of flavours from around the country.
The space itself is intimate, with one central dining room as the focus, ended with a small cocktail bar. With a sense of occasion, walls are hued turquoise and unique seating upholstered in patterned fabrics to reflect the vibrancy of the cuisine, with a contemporary twist. You can speak to the team about hiring the entire space or booking out a certain corner or table for your guests - simply give them a call or email, and they'll be happy to help you.
The menus are dictated by the seasons, so expect to see a change in dishes throughout the year. For your event, you could either concentrate on the a la carte and choose your courses yourself, or go for the tasting menu, for something really special.
As for the former, the website offers an insight into what to expect with a sample menu, with starters looking like richado masala fried squid with smoked paprika, grilled courgette and tomatoes and roquette, alongside colocasia leaves served with yoghurt, date and tamarind chutney.
Mains can be chosen from the clay oven with dishes like Tandoori stone bass or the wasabi chicken tikka
with chicken thigh marinated in fresh wasabi, cheese, cream, fenugreek leaves and cardamom, or look to the traditional main courses for plates like lamb biryani or butter chicken.
While the tasting menu sits at 12 courses in total, though these include additional sides and some drinks. This can be paired with a wine flight, too, which sounds like a must.
