Established in 1901, The West London Shooting School’s layout remains essentially the same as it was nearly 100 years ago and offers a fantastic event venue or Christmas day out for colleagues, clients, or friends.
No two festive celebrations are approached in the same way here, with the passionate team on hand to help tailor things to individual requirements. There are so many various packages to choose from (with the addition of bespoke requests possible) that there truly is something for everyone. Learn how to clay pigeon shoot with expert tuition or take advantage of the slightly more unusual options like 4x4 off road driving, quad biking or even duck herding. Whichever option you choose one thing’s for sure, there’s nothing like a healthy dose of competition to kick proceedings off when it comes to festive celebrations.
While the activities take centre stage here, the drinking and dining isn’t an afterthought. Hearty, simple food is turned out by chef Marcos De Freitas and his team who pride themselves in a menu of please-all British favourites that – naturally – often include game. Depending on what time of day you visit you might be treated to bacon rolls to begin and pigs in blankets, spinach and ricotta pastry roll and mulled wine for mid-morning snacks before moving onto the main event: Christmas lunch.
Starters on the main menu include a smooth chicken liver pate and smoked salmon with prawns, a horseradish cream, and a lime vinaigrette. Roast turkey with all the trimmings has been included for the traditionalists, but those looking for an authentic taste of game season might prefer the venison and ale casserole that comes served with mustard mash, shredded cabbage, and roasted carrots. Come dessert time and you’re spoilt for choice with chocolate sponge, Christmas pudding, sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble all options.
