Looking for the perfect spot for this year's Christmas party in Cambridge? Well, if you're on the hunt for a private dining setting with an intimate, exclusive-use room to host your team from the office, a group of friends or family, South Asian restaurant Navadhanya could be just the place.
Navadhanya opened back in 2014, helmed by cousins Krishna Vijayakumar and Arun K Chandran, who brought together their passion for fine dining Indian cuisine and flair for contemporary flavours, cooking techniques and presentation. The result? A decade later and the restaurant has been awarded both Best Fine Dining Restaurant in the East of England and Asian Restaurant of the Year East of England at the Asian Curry Awards, as well as landing a spot in the Michelin Guide.
While the ground-floor, main dining room is a large, open space with a considered interior design concept, bringing a focus on natural materials, earthy colours and atmospheric lighting, the upper floor is home to two private dining rooms. These spaces are exclusive use and will give your group privacy for the evening. With luxe, velvet seating and metallic details, they also showcase an extra flamboyance, perfect for special occasions and a celebration.
One of the biggest selling points of Navadhanya, especially for the festive period, is its seven-course tasting menu. This is where the restaurant's fine dining sensibilities really come into play, with a mix of both traditional and contemporary dishes. Online, you'll find example menus for the classic tasting menu, as well as vegan and vegetarian options - which always makes dining with a group a little easier.
Expect plates like seared scallops with clamp moilee served with mango chilly salsa, dried shrimp and charcoal leaf, alongside meen dakshini with southern spiced monkfish, puffed wild black rice and curry leaf chutney. Tasting courses also come with a wine flight, which is a great way to make the evening feel even more special.
