Every time Christmas rolls around, many of us long to escape the December gloom and take off to warmer climes but are foiled by unaffordable flights and long holiday queues. Well, we may just have found the perfect alternative - head on over to Kensington High Street where a little slice of la dolce vita awaits in Como Garden.
Established by the Zandi brothers of popular Latin American restaurant Zuaya, Como Garden is pure Italia through and through. Once inside, guests are greeted by a breathtaking Mediterranean display of walls and ceilings covered in greenery, creamy leather booths and Renaissance-era Italian inspired statues. The standout feature of the interior is the olive tree, which stands proudly in the centre of the restaurant and is threaded with fairy lights which extend over the ceiling. This stunning dining room can seat up to 50 guests.
Italian may seem like an unconventional festive choice, but Como Garden’s delicious menu is guaranteed to change your mind. Check out their variety of pasta and be sure to sample the long ribbons of pappardelle tossed with a flavoursome creamy wild mushroom sauce. They also boast some interesting flavour combinations, such as pear gel filled ravioli accompanied by blue cheese. Whatever you order, be sure to get some Como Garden focaccia to go along with it.
If you fancy a more intimate festive celebration, Como Garden also has spaces for private dining, giving you and your party the ability to celebrate in peace.
After dinner, why not have a stroll around Kensington? One of London’s most beautiful areas during the festive season, there are many sights to take in. Grab a glass of warm mulled wine and go for a stroll around Hyde Park, or check out some of the iconic festive decorations in the area, such as the lights at iconic department store Harrods.
