If you’re looking to get wed somewhere with plenty of different spaces, then Lion House in Essex could be perfect. The main part of this venue is actually a popular local gastropub, but recently the team responded to the demand from modern couples looking to get married somewhere a bit more laidback to a traditional country house or hotel, and purpose built a function suite.
This dedicated space is made up of The Long Bar, The Grand Hall, The Courtyard Garden and The Lion’s Den. Welcome guests in the art deco decked-out Long Bar with a cold glass of fizz and a few canapes where in cooler months you can choose to have the log fire burning to create a warm, romantic atmosphere. Elsewhere, The Grand Hall is ideal for hosting a wedding breakfast. Unique twentieth century artwork lines the walls while contemporary chandeliers keep things feeling fresh. This blank canvas space is lined with huge windows to one side and a glass wall to another, which looks onto the bar for integration between spaces. The neutral backdrop here ensures any theme can be catered for, allowing couples to really put their own stamp on their day. The Courtyard Garden is a beautiful, lushly planted tranquil area that makes the ideal place to enjoy some sunshine with your guests, as well as providing a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding photographs. Finally, The Lion’s Den is a snug at the end of The Long Bar which has a beautiful fireplace as its focal point, as well as wooden parquet flooring and a dramatic vaulted ceiling. Lit up with candles and filled with some pretty chairs, this becomes a beautiful place for your ceremony.
With 23 luxury bedrooms on site there’s also the option to add an overnight stay for you and your guests on the night of your wedding, or even a little longer if you fancy a minimoon in the same spot you tied the knot.
