Couples on the hunt for smaller, more intimate wedding venues should consider this Margate gem with its beautiful vistas of the Margate Sands. The events team at this beachside venue are able to arrange weddings around the following popular themes; festival, tropical, nautical, rustic, travel, fairy tale, winter and art deco. You’re also free to do your own theme – or no theme at all.
Packages at Sands Hotel are based on 50 day guests and 80 evening guests, but you can also hire out the entire hotel exclusively. This will give access to the Terrace Suite, Bay Restaurant and Roof Terrace as well as all 20 en-suite bedrooms. There is an offer for last-minute weddings for £5,240, which is valid until April 2020 (excluding bank holidays).
The Terrace Suite has a dedicated entrance, private bathrooms and its own bar. What’s more, the wrap-around windows allow for great views of the dramatic and beautiful landscape. The vast open skies, sparkling sands and drama of the sea influenced the choices of interiors indoor, too. The colour scheme, light and ambience of the venue have brought the seaside in. The roof terrace is a sublime spot for wedding photography (should the weather allow it) and could be a cool spot for a drinks reception. Artist J.M.W Tuner claimed the best sunsets in the world were in Margate and they truly do not disappoint from the rooftop – which is why sunsets are nicknamed ‘Turner Skies’ in this part of the world.
The Bay Restaurant is another option for a wedding breakfast, and the two AA Rosette-awarded food offering is sure to impress your guests. The menu consists of European dishes with a modern twist, inspired by local and seasonal produce. The wine list also champions local suppliers.
