For creative couples in Bristol looking for a unique wedding venue, Harbour House with its fascinating history and views of the water has to be one of the best. Set in a 19th century transit shed, it's said this quirky building was once the private boathouse of Isambard Kingdom Brunel and boasts high ceilings detailed with wooden beams, as well as an outdoor terrace.
The single-floor space spans a bar and restaurant which can be brought together to cater for up 200 people. Anything is possible, as previously Harbour House has hosted Apres ski themed parties and cabaret evenings, with space for DJs and live music, too.
Throughout the planning of your big day one of the team will be on hand to help you with suppliers, configuring the space and any questions you might have. Of course, one of the most important parts of any celebration is the food, of which Harbour House has plenty of options.
From canapes and cocktails to a waterfront BBQ, the team have plenty of ideas when it comes to keeping your guests fed and watered. For a big group, the sharing banqueting menu is a winner, with starters like Cornish seafood cocktail and baked Tunworth with seasonal chutney.
Mains like slow cooked Gloucestershire Lamb shoulder with dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal greens are bound to go down a treat, as well as oven baked whole Cornish sea bream, mixed leaf salad and roast new potatoes. Finally, we'd find it hard to say no to a tower of profiteroles with Chantilly cream, dark chocolate sauce and toasted hazelnuts.
As for drinks, different packages offer different options but a glass of fizz, Aperol Spritz or Hugo cocktail make for fabulous welcome drinks. Throughout the day, the team prefer to use drinks tokens so that guests may choose their own types of drinks and when they have them.
