Londoners looking to tie the knot are in for a treat when it comes to wedding venues in the capital. From cool, independent bars to historic monuments, London really does have it all. One of the most intriguing venues, though, has to be the Armourers' Hall in the City.
Located close to Liverpool Street Station, this Grade II Listed, gold-toned Georgian mansion is home to The Armourers and Brasiers' Company, a guild founded in 1322 to protect the practises of this craft. While the building isn't quite that old, you might be interested to know that the site is, and has been used for this purpose for over 800 years.
Now, the guild operates on a charitable basis only, but it is possible to make the most of this incredible building and hire the venue for your special event. Inside, there are four magnificent rooms available, each one brimming with history and benefitting from recent refurbishments, meaning they have everything you need - new and old.
The Livery Hall can seat 100 people across 10 tables for a seated reception and boasts a huge, vaulted ceiling and towering walls decorated with artefacts relating to the The Armourers and Brasiers' Company. From oil paintings to suits of armour, it's part museum as well as dining hall and offers a really unique backdrop for your big day.
Similarly sized is the Gold Drawing Room which has a more typically feminine feel. Here, huge glittering chandeliers punctuate the space, while shimmering golden walls are complemented by plush, red curtains. It's a regal space fit for the best day of your lives.
Then, for more intimate celebrations, there's the Library. This space has capacity of just 10 people for dinner or 20 for a drinks reception, and is hued a gorgeous, raspberry colour and decorated with sumptuous chairs and ancient books. It's the perfect place for a winter wedding.
