Zizzi has been serving up its brand of Italian food for well over two decades. This branch is in Port Solent, Portsmouth, a large waterside development not far from the city centre. As such, the restaurant has a large outdoor terrace area that overlooks the marina, ideal for drinks in the warmer weather. Port Solent has a range of bars, pubs, restaurants, independent shops and boutiques, as well as a cinema and leisure centre. This branch of Prezzo, therefore, is the perfect place to either quickly grab something to eat or relax after a long day of shopping. Its popularity is testament to its brand of Italian food, that always covers the classics while inviting diners to venture beyond.
Food is served from 11-30am to 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends. The menu is vast and routinely strays away from strictly Italian cuisine. Starters include garlic bread (also available with cheese and chilli), chicken spiedini (garlic chicken breast and sunblush tomatoes roasted on a skewer), bruschetta, and pork and garlic meatballs. There’s also two sharing boards, favourtie and grande antipasti.
All the classic pasta dishes are on offer, such as spaghetti bolognese, lasagne, spaghetti pomodoro and spaghetti chorizo carbonara. You’ll also find a strong line up of fresh pasta dishes, including hot-smoked salmon carbonara, pappardelle with a beef and chianti ragu and camapanelle lentil ragu.
Pizza options are headlined by the rustica, an oblong take on the classic round shape. Toppings here range from pepperoni to goat’s cheese, pine nuts and sunblush tomatoes. Traditional pizza is also on offer, as are three varieties of calzone.
A six-strong selection of gelatos are available for dessert, including flavours such as slate caramel, Sicilian lemon and ricotta, and chocolate. There’s also tiramisu and Black Forest fondant.
