A casual new dining spot, Zia Pia manages to fulfil the roles of wine bar, café & Italian eatery. Proprietor Martin Saxon has run some of London’s most fashionable restaurants, & his wife Sarah has organised Italian cooking holidays. Bringing their talents together has done Sheen a favour. Feast on enormous portions of well-prepared antipasti, before tucking into tagliolini alla vongole, brought straight from the kitchen in its pan, or lamb shank cooked for hours, served with richly flavoured lentils. Among Saxon’s many talents is wine writing, & he has put together an enviable Italian list: concise, but clever & well thought-out. Everything is priced to sell – diners would have difficulty spending more than £40 a head. If it does nothing else, Zia Pia should act as a great advertisement for the family’s catering business.
