Super contemporary, it’s little wonder that Zarana attracts a young, fashionable crowd of carefree Essexites, the bold interior, state of the art coloured lighting and unbelievably funky bar creating an upbeat atmosphere that’s part hip urban restaurant, part party palace. The menu is surprisingly traditional in places, the Zarana kitchen team obviously keen to pay respects to the authentic flavours of India, in fact Indian street food is also paid homage to in the thali selection. However, in a place like this did you expect the food to be tame? On the house delicacies section of the menu the Zarana chefs let rip with their imagination, creating delicious dishes based on Indian flavours but blended by fresh, strong ideas.
