An idyllic, peaceful bar and garden for trying out Zapato's home-brewed beers. Found just off the Huddersfield Narrow Canal between Slaithwate and Marsden, the riverside drinking spot is in a rural, but accessible, location where you'll find a menu that's perfect for beer lovers.
Functioning both as a bar, and an online shop, Zapato has its own brewery with a great variety of beers and ales. Guests can opt for beers on tap as well as out of the Zapato-branded bottles and cans. While the main feature is clearly the Zapato products, the menu also lists a great range of guest beers such as American brown ales, non-alcoholic options, Belgion pale ales and German beers.Other highlights on the drinks menu has to be the traditional Belgian lambics that include a blackcurrant and cherry option.
Those not into beer, don't fret - the menu also offers a small selection of spirits and soft drinks. The wine list has a selection of rose, reds, whites and prosecco with a description of each wine to assist you in choosing; a fine touch that adds a level of sophistication.
In terms of food, the offering is ever-changing and varied. There is a small list of traditional beer garden snacks such as pork pies, crisps, cakes and chocolate, however if you're looking for a meal, you'll have to check the website before visiting. Zapato features local street food vendors in a fantastic display of international cuisines and independent chefs. Popular (and regular) vendors include So Toasted, who serve up fancy cheese toasties and loaded fries; and The Little Sri Lankan, serving their famous 24-hour pot roast brisket toastie as well as lots of vegan and veggie options all roasted with curry spices and classic Sri Lankan flavours.
With guest teams serving up food, visits will be different every single time, but diners are always sure to find the great, familiar products of Zapato brewery.
