Not many pubs get to brag about being located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, but the Wellington Inn does. Right at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales Natural Park only a few miles from the elegant spa town of Harrogate, this cosy gem boasts stunning views, and a gorgeous menu to match.
The building of the Wellington Inn dates back to the 18th century and has clearly retained all of its historical British charm. A stone facade and picnic benches invite customers inside, where they can find four separate rooms in which to enjoy their pints and/or grub. The Dining Room provides truly stunning views over the Yorkshire Dales, while the Gun Room boasts a cosy snug ambience and an open inglenook fireplace. The Glass House is suitable for private diners who require a bit more privacy, while The Tap Room, with its open fire and cosy snug, is the ideal place for savouring a pint or two (or three).
Quintessential British pub fare is the name of the game here, with all ingredients locally sourced from Yorkshire. British food takes centre stage, with dishes such as fish and chips, steak and black sheep ale pie, and gammon and double egg taking pride of place. However, more global perspectives are given through the inclusion of plates like onion bhaji, Thai fish and prawn curry, and butternut squash tagine. There's also an exciting selection of pizzas available Thursday-Saturday, as well as cold sandwiches and toasted ciabatta for lunch every day.
Drinks wise, there's everything you could imagine and more. Fine wines, craft ales and guest beers are all on offer, perfectly pairing with the selection of light nibbles such as olives, manchego and honeyed chorizo.
