Pizza isn’t easy to perfect, but the husband-and-wife team who have opened this Clerkenwell Road eatery seem to be working hard at it, producing a New York-style base as thin as can be and naming the toppings after London districts. If your yen is for margherita, try the Chelsea; if you’re more of a four-cheese fan, the Shoreditch should be ideal; but if you hanker after meat, plump for the Smithfield. Eat in the light, open-plan interior or order a takeaway. You’ll also find a short list of salads and pastas, but we doubt whether there’s much call for them – or for the very basic wine list. Beer’s the thing here, with a range of local breweries supplying their treasures; don’t miss the Curious Brew lager produced with Champagne yeast by the Chapel Down winery in Kent. Wedge Issue also has a cellar bar for hire to private parties.
