In 2018, the Waterside Restaurant was opened at the Glen Mhor Hotel by Jon and Victoria, a team with a dedication to sustainability. From composting and recycling programs to using renewable energy sources and local suppliers, the team behind the Waterside Restaurant have a real passion for ethical food practices. Lying on the banks of the River Ness in beautiful Inverness, the menu for this light and welcoming restaurant is carefully crafted, showcasing the best of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The menu changes each season to ensure that each dish served up is done so in accordance with the harmony of the environment. At the Waterside Restaurant, you'll have a unique dining experience that celebrates the beauty and bounty of the Scottish Highlands.
The early morning menu at the Waterside Restaurant includes everything from cereal and pastries to a hearty Scottish breakfast, complete with haggis. Most diners for breakfast would visit the restaurant if they were staying in the hotel. From the kitchen, you can order a selection of Scottish cheeses and cured meats, traditional Scottish porridge, or something luxury — a dish of locally sourced smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Lunch is served from 12pm on Monday through to Saturday, and includes dishes like haggis, neeps and tatties with a whisky cream sauce, a sweet potato massaman curry with sticky rice and crispy shallots, and cullen skink made from Peter Head smoked salmon, potatoes, leeks and cream.
When it comes to the a la carte menu, you really are in for a treat. Choose from a Highland sirloin steak with field mushroom, vine cherry tomatoes and fries, a Scottish seafood linguine with shallots, olive oil, white wine and parmesan, and a chicken supreme with roasted vegetables with couscous and herb sour cream.
Dessert and drinks are equally as special, and include an iced cranachan parfait with Drambuie cream and raspberries, and a gin, basil and strawberry trifle with meringue, custard, cream and toasted almonds. You'll find cocktails like an Uile Old Fashioned and Fairy Pool on the menu, along with plenty of Inverness draught beer and ciders.
