Located in one of the busiest areas of Birmingham, this Wagamama is the perfect place to go after a day of shopping till you drop. Now one of the biggest casual dining Japanese restaurants in the UK, Wagamama serves up Ramens, Katsu curries and rice bowls that will be sure to keep you going all day long.
Throwing the traditional starter, main, dessert structure, that most restaurants swear by, out of the window, dishes arrive whenever they are ready meaning you’ll get your food from kitchen to table as soon as it’s made, no cold dishes here. On the menu you’ll find lots of interesting side dishes like gyoza in a range of flavours including vegetable and chicken, chilli squid and lollipop prawns.
When it comes to mains, Wagamama is best known for its Ramens. Opt for the miso cod ramen, chilli chicken, steak or tantanmen beef brisket ramen. Although Ramen is a warm and comforting dish, if you feel like something a little less hot and soupy the curries are ideal. With its version of the famous Katsu curry as well as variations on it including the yasai katsu curry for vegetarians and the Vegatsu, a vegan take on the iconic dish with bread crumbed seitan and the famous curry sauce.
For something a little simpler, the donburi rice bowls are a great choice. With a choice of shredded meats and veg to pick from, sometimes less really is more, especially when it comes to Japanese food.
The casual dining atmosphere, mood lighting and communal tables all add to the popularity and excitement people feel towards this long beloved chain. With a restaurant in almost every major town and city, you really can’t go wrong with a Wagamama, and thankfully you’re never far from one either which is somewhat comforting.
