Vinoteca, the hugely popular wine bar, shop and restaurant, has brought its global wine list to Borough Yards in London Bridge. The chain, which was started in 2005, has enjoyed success across London, and now has branches in Marylebone, Chiswick, King's Cross and the City. Founders Brett and Charlie seek out interesting wines, as well as a range of exciting beers, spirits and no-and-low-alcoholic drinks from all over the world, with an ever-changing selection of 25 wines by the glass. Vinoteca's award-winning list of over 200 wines changes every six months to keep up to date.
Co-founder Brett Woonton said they hope to create a place that feels like it has been a part of the fabric of Borough for years – right down to the detail in the design, through to the friendly service you will receive when you visit.
This branch finds itself in London Bridge's shopping and dining district, Borough Yards. The site has two floors, with the ground floor offering an informal hangout with an overhanging gantry brimming with bottles. The venue is designed for enjoying excellent wine and features both high and low tables, as well as stools at the bar. The doors open out onto the street, so the buzz of Borough Market seeps in with every entry and exit.
The first floor is a cosier space and offers a perfect view of Southwark Cathedral. The maroon seating provides the perfect setting for group outings and relaxed dates. Both floors offer food, as well as oak floors, tying the venue together pleasingly.
This branch, like all Vinoteca openings, offers a seasonal menu as well as a unique set menu created by the head chef. Opening hours are from breakfast to 11 pm. For more information or to keep up to date, visit the Vinoteca website.
