London-based pizzeria Vicolo Hackney has one guiding principle: quality without compromise. After ordering one of their delicious thin crust pizzas, you can see this principle in full effect.
Vicolo’s pizzas are made with a unique blend of Mediterranean traditions and products of outstanding quality, all prepared by chefs with a great passion for natural food. All ingredients are fresh and sourced locally from either London or further afield in the UK. Despite the use of exclusively British produce, the chefs strive to remain true to their artisanal Roman roots and provide pizzas bursting with authenticity.
Authenticity reigns in the venue as well. The Italian-inspired space has the feel of a quaint Milanese bar, with a rich forest green tiled counter topped with mouth-watering pastries. A wooden tablet hangs on the wall, listing the drinks options, while bowls of fruit and green plants provide some lively pops of colour to the space. Not to forget the wooden shelves lined with bottles of wine, leaning into more and more into the Italian atmosphere.
The menu does not disappoint. Vicolo offers a tempting range of pizzas, all thin crust with the sourdough bases made in-house. Options range from the traditional Margherita and Meat Feast pizzas to the more experimental- check out the Purple Pizza made with aubergine, goat’s cheese, mortadella, garlic oil, fig, mozzarella and tomato sauce, or the Tantuni pizza with lamb, onion, chilli peppers, parsley, mozzarella and tomato sauce.
Be sure not to miss the house’s signature pizza ‘Vicolo’. This vegetarian number includes butternut squash, courgette, feta cheese, mozzarella, rosemary, garlic and tomato sauce. If that doesn’t float your boat, there are plenty of other vegetarian options to choose from.
