Urban Cafe & Bistro is owned by Patrick, a restauranter whose life in hospitality began in 2001 at the Ritz Hotel. Since then, he has worked in an impressive array of hotels and restaurants, many gaining Michelin stars and numerous accolades. The head chef at this joint is Francesco, who says that cooking has always been his passion. The local cafe and bistro is proud to serve dishes that are almost always made from scratch on the premises, from the bread and pasta, to a delicious selection of desserts.
Begin your day with some great breakfast dishes. Choose from the Highbury breakfast with two Cumberland sausages, streaky bacon, two eggs your way, some beans, a salad and homemade toast. Also on the breakfast menu are omelettes, eggs Benedict and Florentine, and Greek yoghurt with granola and berries. At lunch, enjoy a selection of antipasti, some creamy burrata, a rich tomato soup, or smoked salmon salad. For your main, try the classic ribeye steak with roasted potatoes, a beef lasagne or daily pasta dish, or succulent lamb shank. Desserts change each day, as they’re made fresh in house, so you’ll want to take a look at the menu each time you visit.
If you like your wine, you’ll be impressed by the great selection of choice on the wine list, many of which will pair beautifully with your meal.
Getting to the cafe and bistro is pretty easy, as it’s just a few steps away from Highbury and Islington’s station, so wherever you’re travelling from in London, you can be there in no time. You won’t even feel like you’re in the middle of a city at this charming joint.
