In the heart of Shoreditch, down a cobbled lane just off Boundary Street and housed in a 19th century atelier, you'll find an off license that doubles up as an interactive cocktail bar, opened by The Umbrella Project. The team in charge has sensitively restored this space to create a unique setting for this creative, new cocktail experience.
The Umbrella Project is an online, and now in person, off license that champions local and independent producers, selecting the best cocktails, cocktail kits, low intervention & natural wines, small producer spirits and artisan liquors for their menu. Originally just an online shop, you can now take a trip to Shoreditch to experience their fine products in person. Customers can walk into this shop - or bar, if you're up for staying for a drink - and take part in a hybrid system that allows them to try before they buy.
The independent cocktail kits provide the customer with full-sized bottles of each ingredient as well as a glass to serve them in. Priced from £35 for a strawberry kir cocktail kit, up to £550 for a vintage negroni cocktail kit, it certainly may be worth testing the finished product off first before investing in a kit.
Sip on cocktails at the rustic bar or on simple hay bales outside the front in the street. The venue's simplicity works in harmony with its ethos of using small, local, independent producers to create a drinking experience like no other.
Umbrella Workshop makes sure that every customer has something to their tastes thanks to their great range of local producers. With wines, beers, ciders and more spirits than you can list, the bar makes sure you have the whole package for your perfect drink with garnishes, barware and mixers all available to buy both instore and online.
