Following the demise of Southfields’ favourite Sarkhel’s a while back, some of its staff decided to set up their own gaff right next door to the original premises. Pint-sized Triphal has
established quite a name for itself since then, matching exotic murals & other decorative flourishes with a menu of fairly priced Indian dishes. Curry-house staples share the billing with a few
more enterprising regional specialities, so expect to see the likes of crispy squid in spiced rice flour or dhangri matar (green peas & mushrooms in cashew nut & poppy seed gravy) alongside
onion pakoras, chicken tikka & rogan josh. Also look for Parsee dishes such as king prawn masala with red pumpkin or lamb salli (a sweet & sour combo involving apricots, with a garnish of
straw potatoes). Handy for takeaways & local deliveries too.
