TN1 Bar & Kitchen is located in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, and is a modern restaurant paired with a very well stocked, popular bar. Murat and Tess are the duo behind TN1 Bar & Kitchen, keeping the family owned business warm and welcoming. The doors are open every day of the week from 9am, closing at midnight every day other than Sundays, when it's a little earlier at 10pm.
To begin, try the oysters paired with blood orange and ginger, vinaigrette and tabasco, as you peruse the long menu. Starters and tapas dishes sort of blend into one here, with choices of cumin cauliflower tempura with mango and coconut sauce, soft shell crab with avocado salsa, chilli and spring onion dressing, and baked camembert topped with rosemary, served with crusty bread and chutney. The vegetable rolls are filled with shredded veggies and served with a homemade sweet chilli sauce, and the moules mariniere come with plenty of bread to dip.
There are so many mains to choose from that you may have a tough choice narrowing it down. Try the treacle-cured pork belly with crackling, pickled savoy cabbage and cider reduction, or the grilled halloumi paired with Kentish asparagus, a lentil and sweet potato salad and citrus dressing. There are plenty of popular choices on the menu, too, including sirloin steaks, a chicken katsu curry and fish and chips. Some of the Old Flower House specials include a pan seared fillet of sea bass with a red pepper tapenade and sauteed potatoes, along with grilled lamb chops with vegetables, new potatoes and a mint chimichurri sauce and Thai red chicken curry with jasmine rice.
If you want to make your meal a little more special, add on some wilted creamed spinach, tenderstem broccoli with toasted almonds and garlic butter, or seasoned fries.
