Three Uncles St Pauls is an easy-going Hong Kong-style restaurant and takeaway bringing authentic roast meats and dim sum into the heart of the city.
St Paul’s is the fourth installation of Three Uncles and the biggest yet. The new site builds upon their existing collection of independently owned Cantonese takeaway kiosks and restaurants in Brixton Village, Camden, and Liverpool Street. Located on the Old Bailey, just a stone's throw from City Thameslink, the restaurant offers 30 covers in the form of bench and counter seating.
Founded by three lifelong friends - Pui Sing Tsang (Uncle Sidney), Chong Yew (Uncle Lim), and Mo Kwok (Uncle Mo) - the Three Uncles draws inspiration from their upbringing in 1970s Hong Kong. The interiors reflect nostalgia, drawing inspiration from Hong Kong’s neon street signs and classic takeaway designs. Finding that outside of Chinatown there were very limited options for Cantonese cooking, the trio began filling the gap with pop-ups and kiosks until they found their first permanent site in Brixton Village.
Three Uncles St Paul menu presents their signature meats grilled in-house and chopped to order along with Cantonese classics including Uncle Mo’s Three Treasures: char sui pork, crispy pork belly, and Roast dush—all served with rice. Like the other sites, lo mein noodles and a varied selection of Dim Sum are also available. However, it is also the debut of a new and exclusive soya chicken dish also known as see yao gai. Whole chicken poached in spiced soy sauce is served with braised tofu, soy egg, pak choi, and rice. The menu is available to eat in, take away, and delivery via Deliveroo.
The new opening marks the debut of two Three Uncles beers created in cooperation with Belleville Brewing, Battersea. Both the Triple 8 Lager and the Three Uncles IPA have been developed with the spicy-sweet flavours of siu mei cooking.
