The lovable, inviting Windmill offers a welcome as comfy as the well-worn, red-leather sofas you’ll find strewn about the place. Keen-as-mustard staff dash about, although the Englishness of the
venue, with its no-nonsense furniture and wood floors, is in direct contrast to the full-on Italian menu, which showcases starters such as bruschetta or borlotti bean soup ahead of spaghetti with
pesto and green beans or Tuscan sausage panini served with Italian fries. As you’d expect, the wine list leans towards Italy, and there’s also a handful of cocktails for those who fancy something
with a bit more zing – happy hour runs from 5-6.45pm, Monday to Thursday. They don’t normally do food in the evenings, but if you ring ahead, they may be able to rustle something up. Now, that is
the sign of a good local pub.
