Award-winning & much-admired pies are the standouts at this classic taproom – so dig into steak & ale, mutton, fish, chicken with asparagus or something else from the line-up of terrific
fillings. The Windmill ticks all the boxes for a friendly, well-run, traditional watering hole & is a fine example of London’s much-depleted pub heritage. Apart from pies, real ale is at the
centre of things here, so sup pints of Bombardier, Bath Ale Gem, Waggle Dance or Wandle from Sambrook’s in Wandsworth – one of many new wave, artisan brewers who are keeping the craft alive. Inside
it’s done out in shades of red & gold with lots of wood, framed portraits & brass trappings – although free Wi-Fi is a rare nod to modernity in this unpretentious survivor.
