About
Following closure in November 2013 and months of wrangling with the local council, the Grade II-listed White Bull has re-opened after a ‘complete and sympathetic refurbishment’. New chef/landlord Simon Salt has a fistful of accomplishments, from stints at high-flying Northcote to appearances on BBC MasterChef: The Professionals – although he plans to keep the place as an affordable village boozer with the bonus of slate floors, a big garden, four new letting rooms and a big function room. Given Salt’s auspicious culinary background, it’s no surprise that well-render modern pub food will be high on the agenda in the recently extended dining area – all backed by Lancashire cask ales and a decent wine list.
