About

The long-running Dalston Vic – a renowned live music venue – has been rescued by east London’s Jaguarshoes Collective. Great music should therefore ensue, and the bar is likely to become a more hospitable destination. Distressed Dalston decor sets the scene: lugubrious browns, recycled Edwardiana, 1950s kitchenette dining sets, and Brick Lane bric-a-brac. Hipster staff do shifts behind the original horseshoe counter (its old Charrington’s Toby back-bar intact), turning their hands to £7 Mules, Daiquiris and ‘Kingston Negroni’ – when not pouring pints of Kirin Ichiban or Camden Hells, or filling glasses with no-frills wine. The kitchen is currently run by Psychic Burger, whose patties, croquettes, beer dogs, shawarma wraps and full-fat American sundaes are spot-on for the Vic’s street food-loving young pups. DJs regularly take the stage, and these are no bedsit hopefuls; Charlie Bones, Pacific Socialism and Mark Rae (of Rae & Christian) are serious names to drop down Dalston way.
