With an upbeat, yet laid-back atmosphere & a delightfully old-fashioned feel, The Station is the kind of place you instantly relax in – a great bolt-hole after a walk around the ramparts of nearby Framlingham castle. Two things are done particularly well: the excellent beers from the Earl Soham brewery just a few miles west from here, & the earthy local food. It’s simple but stylish – devilled kidneys on toast, smoked mackerel terrine with beetroot & horseradish, or herring roe in nutty butter, while seasonal choices might encompass pan-fried skate wing with samphire & caper butter or pigeon breast on a warm Puy lentil & green bean salad.
