Spain and New York aren’t exactly two locations that you would often see lumped together, but that is exactly what has happened at this popular Glasgow haunt, where Spanish food is married to a healthy dose of New York style.
The Spanish Butcher is set within a large industrial-style space that resembles a New York loft. The contemporary interiors feature all of the usual industrial-chic traits, including columns, exposed brick work and hanging pendant lights, while a few house plants dotted around the space and banquette seating wrapped in a deep red leather hue add some warmth. There is also a standalone bar complete with a few stools should you fancy some pre- or post-prandial drinks, while large floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light during the daytime.
While the feel of the dining room may be NYC, The Spanish Butcher’s menu does exactly what it says on the tin, championing the finest Galician beef, premium Iberican Jamon and fastidiously sourced seafood, combining Spanish and Mediterranean inspired flavours. Begin your meal with the likes of seared king scallops or Galician fillet sliders with truffle cheese and harissa aioli, before moving on to the stars of the show - the steaks.
At The Spanish Butcher, you can choose between cuts including fillet, sirloin or chateaubriand alongside your choice of sauces (peppercorn, garlic butter etc.) and tempting side dishes including manchego mac ‘n’ cheese or sauteed mixed greens. There are other mains too though if you are not in the mood for steak, such as a whole baked sea bass or a burger served alongside skinny fries.
To round off your meal, tuck into tempting dessert options such as cinnamon coated deep-fried churros with a warm chocolate sauce, or almond tart with vanilla ice cream and poached apple. On Sundays, stop by for classic roasts.
