The Roundabout Hotel is in Fareham, just outside Portsmouth. Built in the 19th century, it offers 16 rooms that range from £70-85 a night and is near to the M27 and ferry ports at Portsmouth and Southampton. The area is also home to three golf courses and watersports spots such as Hamble River and Lee-on-Solent.
The menu features a diverse range of hearty classics. Starters include creamy mushrooms, chicken liver pate, vegetable spring rolls and moules marinieres. Next, choose from the likes of hunter’s chicken, lasagne, duck in orange sauce and liver and bacon. Vegetarian options are a Mediterranean vegetable tart or broccoli and cauli crumble, vegetable chilli and a no-chicken Caesar salad. All mains are served with a selection of vegetables unless stated otherwise.
Steak options are sirloin or rump. These are served with chips and your choice of sauce. There’s also a mixed grill. This is a 5oz rump steak, chicken breast and sausage served with salad and gherkins. Burger highlights are the mega burger (two 6oz beef patties), pulled pork burger and mushroom and halloumi burger. A range of pies and fish and chips round out the mains choices.
The Roundabout Hotel also caters for a range of functions, most notably weddings. Wedding packages range from £21.50-37.50 per head and all include a three course meal from the wedding menu. Starters from this include creamed mushrooms and garlic bread, while mains feature roast beef and pork fillets.
Another of the hotel’s offerings is afternoon tea. This is £11.50 with tea or coffee and £16.50 with prosecco. You can choose any two sandwich fillings. Options include ham and mustard, egg mayonnaise and brie and cranberry.
