The Rock Lodge is an apres ski bar in Whitstable that has been designed with old-school alpine glamour and a warm welcome in mind. The team behind The Rock Lodge want you to experience the very best of apres ski in Kent, enjoying a bespoke menu and a mix of live music and DJ sets. The Rock Lodge menu features exciting twists and world-famous classics, and diners can enjoy the dishes until 9pm, after which point the venue transforms into a nightlife hotspot. The bar is a popular haunt with cocktail aficionados, and it’s said that their Premium Espresso Martini is one of the very best in the area.
As for the food, start with an order of freshly baked Whitstable bread for the table paired with potted mackerel pate and a homemade scotch egg. When it comes to starters, there are options of in house beetroot cured salmon with lime and chilli and a burrata topped with pomegranate, pesto emulsion and a balsamic salad. There are excellent mains to choose from too, including a teriyaki udon with water chestnuts, spring onions and beansprouts, a pan fried duck breast with red wine plum jus and a favourite of tempura battered fish with homemade triple cooked chips.
On a Sunday at The Rock Lodge, you can enjoy a British roasted beef striploin, crispy pork belly braised in cider, Cumberland sausage stuffed chicken breast and shortcrust butternut squash vegan pie for your weekly roast. Each option is served with garlic and rosemary roasted potatoes, orange glazed carrots, tenderstem broccoli, roasted garlic, braised red cabbage, a breaded parsnip and fluffy Yorkshire pudding. You can choose to add on cauliflower cheese and pigs and blankets, and of course, your plate will come with lashings of gravy.
