Milsom Hotel's restaurant is a family friendly space that has both indoor and outdoor settings, in the relaxed environment of Kesgrave Hall. The restaurant doesn't take bookings, and so you're free to show up whenever you fancy. There's no dress code at this restaurant, so whether you've come along for date night or have just done the school run, you'll fit right in.
To start you off, enjoy a selection of delicious starters, some of which are available in two different sizing options depending on your appetite. Try the leek and potato soup with blue cheese on toast, the course country pate with pistachios, celeriac remoulade, pickles and charred sourdough, or the treacle cured salmon with ginger and lemongrass puree, pickled beetroot and charred spring onions.
Between midday and 2.15pm every day of the week except on Sundays, you can enjoy the Milsoms club sandwich with skinny fries, or a prawn open sandwich. Then the menu moves onto the mains, a section of incredible flavours. Sweet potato arancini comes with cashew cream, chargrilled heritage courgette and dill salad, roasted cashews and turmeric dipping sauce, along with beer battered North Atlantic haddock and king prawn and potato madras with braised rice, poppadoms and raita. There are a series of steak and grill dishes to choose from, including the gammon steak with chargrilled pineapple and 11oz sirloin on the bone.
We simply would not be able to dine here without trying out some of the desserts – they look divine. The honey and cinnamon brulee comes with lemon shortbread, whilst the poached rhubarb is topped with creme chantilly, poached orange, honeycomb and a caramelised puff pastry. There is a harmonious pairing of bananas and custard, too, with whipped custard, banana bread, caramelised banana, toffee sauce, aerated dark chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
